Bombers Fastpitch to Add Aces Express Fastpitch Softball Teams
Merger of Two Texas Organizations to Be Effective August 10, 2020
New Braunfels, Texas (January 30, 202
0) – Bombers Fastpitch has announced the addition of
the Aces Express (“AE”) Fastpitch program and teams in an integration that will be effective
August 10, 2020 to allow the Aces Express teams to complete the 2020 Spring/Summer season
under the “Aces Express” name.
All 12 Aces Express teams, ranging in age divisions from 8U to 18U and based in the Houston
area, will then transition into the Bombers Fastpitch brand after that date. The Bombers
Fastpitch organization currently has 110 teams in 15 states across the country with the
program’s headquarters located in New Braunfels, Texas.
As part of the addition of the Aces Express teams, David McCorkle—the current Program
Director and Recruiting Coordinator of AE—will assume the position of Vice President, Softball
Operations and Head Coach of the Texas Bombers 16U Gold team for the 2021 playing season.
“Our addition of David McCorkle, his coaches and the amazing players and parents associated
with the Aces Express, is an incredible addition and one that helps push our Bomber Fastpitch
program to another level,” Scott Smith, the President of Bombers Fastpitch, said.
“Anytime you add talent to your mix, it’s a big day, but when you add this much it an extreme
game-changer and one we could not be more excited about,” Smith continued. “David and his
coaches have done an incredible job with that program and to now be able to share our
systems and bring together so many like-minded people will certainly be a big deal going
forward. Our goals at Bombers Fastpitch have been to surround our players and coaches with
the best people, best technology and best systems in the game. This is a huge step in that
direction and we can’t wait to get the ball rolling.”
McCorkle added: “We are excited to be taking our program and joining forces with the Bombers
organization. We feel like we built something special with AE and had a great 10-plus years. We
purposely built a small, intimate program with a very tight-knit group of coaches and teams.
Now it’s time to take what we have built and merge it with something bigger. The Bombers and
Aces Express have been very close over the last 10 years and are built on a lot of the same
values.”
The Aces Express leader explained his reasons for the merger.
“It’s a perfect match at this point in time and we are excited to bring our entire coaching staff,
teams and players to the Bombers organization,” McCorkle continued. “We bring a very
talented group of teams, players and an entire coaching staff. Our coaching staff brings a ton of
experience and passion for getting the best out of teams and kids and giving them the best
chance to be successful. We are excited to make one last summer run as Aces Express, then we
will hang the AE hat up with a ton of pride of all that we accomplished. I am excited for our
transition in August and the future with the Bombers!”
